Final blog post

In this class i learned a variety of things. Different kinds of design work as well as how to design them to meet each of their different needs. i learned about blogging, some photoshop, illustartor and Indesign.

I am proud that i have learned how to use illustrator more effectively and about different design strategies.

I improved upon my ability to use illustrator and other design tools to use with my design ideas.

I have many projects I would like to persue on my own: the Service Poster, Making a book ....
mostly I would like to see how i could improve what I have already done and to push my designs a bit further and practice and the various assignments to prepare for future assignments similar or related to what I have already done.

Paper is glued to thin board that serves as draw and support. measure to ensure no snares and a smooth pull out. 10 pages= 10 drawers.
on materials page- have samples of materials on page

if unable to do simple binding will be used

How to Book

Title: How To Make A Peacock Gone Wire!

idea: this is a how to book on how to make a peacock, using my own personal experience and style quality, with wire and fabric.

create a peacock out of construction paper to act as a guide throughout the book, appearing on every page. More detail such as the wings and tail will be made. Tail will occassionaly fan out on different pages and the peacock will sit in different positions on pages. Blue, Green, White and Black construction paper will be used to create the body, wings, head and tail.

use Japanese or ink paintings as inspiration for background image. I will attempt to use indian ink to create a unique background for each page to create a visually pleasing environment for the peacock so he does not have to sit on a blank background page. This will hopefully give life to the pages as well as combining different elements to the book. background will be in grey scale not colored ink.

Added on each page will also be branches that will act as a perch for the peacock. these branches will be made out of thin string like wire of both gold or copper tinted and silver colorings.
Fabric leaves may be added onto the wire branches.
cover will be made with combination of wire, fabric, paper with the peacocks head on the front cover and the tail faned out on the back cover.

Recap: Ink background environment, with wire branches, fabric leaves in the middle ground and construction paper peacock in foreground acting as a guide throughout the how to book. Cover will have head of peacock, and back cover the fanned out tail.

Table of Content is as follows:

Letter Project Part 2

Project 3(I): Using the red carpet as a background, create an I using Q-Tips. Place 8 Q-tips in a rectangle outlined shape as pattern dictates. 1 Q-tip for top and bottom, 3 for each side. Inside place a line of 6 Q-tips vertically with small spacing between each while making sure they align with the side Q-tips. Three lines of the 6 vertical Q-tips should be present when finished. take a picture using normal room lighting.
Project 4:(E): Using a yellow tiled floor, take shaving cream (preferably pink tinted) and create 3 long vertical lines close enough together they seem to form one thick vertical line. Create three more lines of similar thickness. There should be two long lines on top and one shorter in the middle. Use E pattern as a guide. Take picture in normal room lighting.
Project 5(S): Use red carpet as background. Using S pattern, create an S using a solid black scarf. Make sure the thickness of the S's curves resemble that of S pattern. Watch the spacing of inside curves of S as well. When it resembles S pattern closely, take a picture in normal lighting.
Project 6:(B): Use a yellow pillow with dark green stripes made of lines as a background. Fold a piece of Kleenex and in half and then in half again creating a thick line. Next, take another piece of Kleenex folded in half and place the B pattern on top where only the curves of the B cover Kleenex. Trace curves of the B(inside and out)(B<-) and cut. Then take another piece of Kleenex fold it in half and cut vertical stripes using the width of the folded kleenex as the length of the strip. Assemble pieces to match that of B pattern using the long folded Kleenex as the back of B (->B) and small strips as bridges between the back of B and the curves of the B. Make sure the inside shapes of B matches closely with the inside shapes of the pattern B.
Project 7(R): Red Carpet as background. Using 11 toilet paper rolls create an R using R pattern as a guide. There should be four rolls as the back of R (->R), three for the top of the R, Two for curve of the R, two for the leg brace of R(R<-) and one for the middle bridge. To make edges appear more linear and straight flatten one side of all the toilet paper rolls but the two used for the curve. Take picture in normal room lighting.
Project 8(G): Use yellow wooden counter top as a background. Assort 18 rocks of white, grey and a few black, in a G formation using pattern as a guide. Place light colored rocks on outer curve of G(->G), grey rocks on top and bottom part of curves and black rocks as the final edge of G(G<-) Place one black stone in center of outer curve of G(->G). Take picture in normal room lighting.
Project 9(M): use a red wash cloth as background. Put water into a paper cup and create a spout by pinching cup. Pour water into an M pattern onto cloth, using hands as bridge to create straight lines on wet part of cloth. Use fingers to rub wet part of cloth to clean up edges and even thickness of lines as best as possible. Take a picture in normal room lighting.
Project 10(N): Using a Plate with a yellow rim, tap ground coffee beans onto plate using N pattern as a guide. Use finger or utensil to straighten and clarify lines. Tap a small amount in a circle around the N close to the rim of plate. Take picture in normal room lighting.

Letter Project

Step 1: Using Illustrator, choose font type Franklin Gothic No.2 Roman. Click the capital letter A and while holding down shift key, enlarge letter to fill page as much as possible. Repeat with the capital letters of IELSBRGMN. These will become patterns and used as guides when creating the letters out of various material.
Project 1(A): Place a lamp about four ft high. Taking the letter A pattern created, tape a light covered pencil onto the bridging section of the A or bottom line of the triangular center shape of A. Turn off lights. Place A 11/2 ft to 2ft high from ground in front of light to create a solid shadow of A. Take picture of shadow. Avoid showing the A pattern in the picture.
Project 2(L): On a yellow shaded wooden counter place two regular sized forks with black handles vertically with pointed end at top. Place one fork up and the other upside down. Place two salad forks in the same position only horizontally. Be sure the handles of both the regular and salad sized forks touch. Use the L pattern created previously as a resource if needed. Take picture in normal room lighting.
